The United States Microsoft released the server OS “Windows Server 2022” to the public on August 18 (local time). It has improved security, improved Azure hybrid capabilities, and strengthened its role as an application platform.
"Windows Server 2022" is the long-term service channel (LTSC) of "Windows Server" following "Windows Server 2019". Mainstream support will be available until October 13, 2026, and extended support will be available until October 14, 2031.
The company is working on what is called a "Secured-Core PC" on a PC, but in "Windows Server 2022" this will also be deployed on servers (Secured-core server). This ensures that the set of hardware, firmware and drivers that make up the server are provided by a legitimate OEM, as well as "TPM 2.0" protection, firmware protection, virtualization-based security (VBS), and more. By operating in combination, it provides defense-in-depth against advanced threats. It also has proactive defenses that pre-defense paths that an attacker may use to exploit the system and confuse the attacker.
It also raises the security of the connection by one level. HTTPS and TLS 1.3 are enabled by default in Windows Server 2022, and technologies such as Secure DNS, SMB AES-256 encryption, SMB over QUIC, and SMB compression are supported.
Other enhancements to the Windows container. Improvements such as a 30% reduction in startup time and improved performance by reducing the image size by up to 40% have been made. Support for Intel Ice Lake processors supports large business-critical applications (such as SQL Server) that require up to 48TB of memory, 64 physical sockets, and 2,048 logical cores. AMD processors also support nested virtualization, giving you more hardware choices.
The standard Web browser will be the new "Microsoft Edge" based on "Chromium". Please refer to the following document site for the features that will be removed or deprecated in "Windows Server 2022".
"Windows Server 2022" is currently available from "Volume Licensing Service Center" (VLSC) and others. An evaluation version that can be used for 180 days is also available at the Microsoft Evaluation Center.
