Huawei will not be able to use Android OS compatible with Google apps and app stores on smartphones and tablets due to US sanctions. As a countermeasure, Huawei announced "HarmonyOS 2" as an alternative to Android in June. In China, we are updating the OS for smartphones that we have sold so far.
In Japan, the tablet "MatePad 11" equipped with HarmonyOS 2 will be released on July 23. The smart watch "HUAWEI WATCH 3" to be released in August will also use the same OS.
The MatePad 11 is a tablet with a display of about 11 inches, and is characterized by increasing the number of screen rewrites to 120 times per second. This number is the same as Apple's iPad Pro, which greatly improves the smoothness of screen movement. You can also handwrite pictures and letters by using the optional "M Pencil". The multitasking function has also been enhanced, and it is possible to display up to four apps on the screen.
The advantage of installing HarmonyOS 2 is the cooperation with other Huawei products. For example, if you connect your smartphone to MatePad 11 wirelessly, you can display the screen of your smartphone on MatePad 11 and operate it. You can operate the smartphone with the mouse from the MatePad 11 side, and you can easily move the data by dragging and dropping, so the cooperation between the two terminals will be smooth. There is also a link function that makes the MatePad 11 a sub-display of Huawei's personal computer.
