08 Have you ever wanted to operate your office or home PC when you're out? With Google's Chrome Remote Desktop, you can remotely control your PC with your smartphone.
However, some people may think that "remote control seems to be difficult to set up ...". But don't worry. In fact, Chrome Remote Desktop is "super" easy to use.
To use Chrome Remote Desktop, install the "Remote Desktop" app on your smartphone and make simple preparations with the Chrome browser on your PC.
We will introduce the operation procedure using a Windows PC and an Android smartphone. I used "HUAWEI Matebook X (Windows 10)" and "Galaxy S20 (Android 11)" this time, but you can operate them on Mac and iPhone in almost the same procedure, so please refer to them.

To use Remote Desktop, prepare on the PC side and the smartphone side. First, let's proceed with the preparation on the PC side.
1: Open Chrome logged in with your Google account and access "Chrome Remote Desktop".
2: Click the download mark in "Remote access settings".
3: The chrome web store will open, so select "Add to Chrome".
4: Click "Add Extension".
5: Set the name of the PC. It's okay if the name is easy for you to understand, but it's possible that someone else can look into your PC screen, so name it within the bounds of common sense. After entering the name, select "Next".
6: Enter a number (PIN) with 6 or more digits. Please do not forget this number as it will be the password required to remotely control the PC from your smartphone. After entering the PIN, click "Start".
Now the preparation on the PC side is OK! Next, we will operate on the smartphone side.
1: Install the "Chrome Remote Desktop" app in the app store. 2: Open the "Chrome Remote Desktop" app. If you log in with the same Google account as your PC, you will immediately see the name of your PC, as shown in the center photo above. 3: Enter the PIN set on your PC and tap "Connect".
With the above operation, your smartphone will be connected to your PC and you will be able to operate it remotely. If you open the app on your smartphone and the name of your PC is not displayed, follow the procedure below.
1: Open the "Chrome Remote Desktop" app and tap the three lines at the top of the screen. 2: Tap "Add account". 3: Log in with a Google account logged in with a PC (with Chrome Remote Desktop set).
If you log in with the same Google account, you should be able to use Chrome Remote Desktop.
The Chrome Remote Desktop cannot be used unless the power of the PC is turned on.
If you want to terminate the connection between your smartphone and PC, you can simply terminate the application on the smartphone side. If you want to exit on the PC side, just turn off the power of the PC or click "Stop sharing" displayed on the screen when connecting remotely.
Next, let's check how to set up Remote Desktop.
To change your PIN (password) on your PC, access "Chrome Remote Desktop" and then click the pen mark in the displayed PC name field.
Then a screen like the picture above will be displayed, so change your PIN and click "Save".
You can also change the name of your PC on this screen.
If you want to disable Chrome Remote Desktop, after accessing "Chrome Remote Desktop" in Chrome, click the trash box mark in the displayed PC name column.
You can disable Remote Desktop.
