An image of Sony's next-generation high-end wireless earphone model "WF-1000XM4" (tentative name), which is rumored to be under development, has appeared on overseas bulletin boards. From the image posted on the Chinese site MyDriver, you can see the body design of the 1000XM4, which has been greatly changed from the current model "WF-1000XM3" (photo below). Compared with the earpieces, it can be seen that the size is large, but compared to the current model "WF-1000XM3", which has an oval body, it seems to be more rounded and easier to fit in the ear.
You can also see a brass-colored cylinder structure on the other side of the earpiece. Whether this is for acoustics, a microphone, or just a simple design accent is unknown at this time.
The WF-1000XM3, announced in July 2019, has been very popular as Sony's high-end noise-cancelling earphones. Its popularity is supported not only by its noise reduction performance, but also by its sound quality, which has been well-received throughout the series, and by incorporating advanced functions such as dedicated applications and touch controls.
On the other hand, looking around the wireless earphone market, Apple's AirPods series has a large presence in the market. In addition, many manufacturers such as Google and Samsung are launching products one after another that appeal to the function of linking with smartphones and AI assistants.
Under such circumstances, the WF-1000XM4 is expected to undergo a major evolution. Hopefully, not only the design changes, but also the internal functions of the product will appeal to Sony. Source: MyDrivers
